Genie Byrd continues to make a positive impact in the world of children through her books, and lifelong commitment to encouraging young readers and writers.
She enjoys visiting schools, churches and social groups sharing writing tips, and motivating young writers in many areas of their lives. She often surprises students with a rap.
Genie’s writings are inspired by her love for education and family, her strong faith, her deep sense of sharing legacy with the next generation, and her love of inspiring young authors.
Genie is the daughter of missionary parents, a wife to retired minister James Byrd, mother, and grandmother. Genie’s mother taught school for 29 years in Honduras, which inspired Genie’s love of teaching and a deep appreciation for other cultures.
Genie is a graduate of Lee University, the University of South Florida, and holds graduate degrees from the University of West Georgia.
After retiring from thirty-four years as classroom teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal, Genie is now devoting her life to writing children’s books and has release her 5th book.
